Freeware for 3D visualization of 3D models of patients

In the scope of the European FP7 project PASSPORT, and in the spirit of its free virtual university dedicated to surgeons WeBSurg, IRCAD (Research Institute against Digestive Cancer) has developed a new online service aiming to provide a 3D modeling of patient from their 3D medical imaging. This service was tested with a limited number of partnership hospital during the PASSPORT project and demonstrated its efficiency. IRCAD now aims to extend this service by creating “Visible Patient”. This spinoff will propose a ship and easy to use distant modeling service to surgeons that will only have to send their patient DICOM image to the Visible Patient website and download the resulting 3D modelling.
ALL RENDERING AND PLANNING SOFTWARE WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE !!!

To test it, you can already download freely the VR-Render software on WeBSurg, the Visible Patient software for iOS and Android or directly visualize the modeling result in a webgl compatible internet explorer.
You can find on this website the description of the different anonymous 3D patient database extracted from the PASSPORT validation process of the Visible patient online service.
The first one is based on the latest generation of internet browsers compatible with the WebGL standard. Such browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari) are freely available on Windows, MacOS and Linux. From such browsers, the visiblepatient webpage based on Kitware MIDAS software gives direct access to this new free patient-specific 3D virtual anatomy.
